The academia always emphasizes the knowledge of research and it is believed that every teacher should acquire the required skills in research and analysis of data for the research. The UGC and other regulatory bodies are coming up with mandatory instructions to all the higher education faculty members to engage themselves in research and research related activities.
But,
researchers at times find themselves technically constrained while promoting
the research due to lack of sufficient understanding of emerging statistical
analytical tools.
‘R’
is one such tool that helps the researcher to analyze the data with ease. It is
a popular open source statistical package for data analytics that is widely
used both in academics and industry. It is a user friendly ecosystem which
offers an extensive variety of statistical techniques to enhance research
output.
‘R’ provides a wide variety of statistical (linear and
nonlinear modelling, classical statistical tests, time-series analysis,
classification, clustering) and graphical techniques, and is highly
extensible.
One
of R’s strengths is the ease with which well-designed publication-quality plots
can be produced, including mathematical symbols and formulae where
needed.
With this backdrop, we can say that “R” for research
is the new trend!
